Thank you so much for this presentation. My MFM APN originally introduced me to probiotics and just want to give credit to all the midwives and APN's that have contributed to my education over the years.

Thank you for this work. I am here simply as the grandmother of a GBS survivor, no medical background. I distribute GBSI materials to ladies groups and baby bumps whenever I can. After learning from your study I am now inclined to encourage probiotic consumption. Is there any caution about that?

I took probiotics during my last pregnancy having lost a daughter to prenatal onset GBS in a previous pregnancy. I took Bio-K and RepHresh Pro-B (available in Canada off the shelf) every day from the start of my pregnancy. I still had GBS show up in my urine in the 3rd trimester, though in amounts that usually don't require treatment as per guidelines. Nevertheless, I was treated with antibiotics because my doctor and I agreed that whatever the amount, if GBS showed in my urine, it would be treated. And my baby was fine this time around. I believe your work is important to complement CDC guidelines and reduce the risk in highly GBS colonized women like me.
