This July is the 23rd annual International Group B Strep Awareness Month. Join us July 11-13 for GBS Community Days! Follow us on social media or check back here to get involved each day! We will have educational videos from researchers, interactive learning opportunities, and hear from those affected by GBS. Our community members will also be posting about their efforts to distribute GBS materials throughout the month - we encourage you to get involved too!

Our goal is to exponentially further the knowledge of group B strep to healthcare providers, researchers, and families alike through the power of the GBS community. The first step towards prevention is awareness!

We hope all participants gain valuable knowledge and awareness of GBS and the personal and worldwide impact that it can have. Approximately 1 in 4 pregnant women carry GBS, which can infect babies during pregnancy through the first few months of life. Not all babies exposed to GBS become infected, but, for those who do, the results can be devastating. GBS can cause babies to be miscarried, stillborn, born prematurely, become very sick, have lifelong handicaps, or die. Together we can make a change!

Awareness Materials Campaign
Getting involved is easy! In just a few easy steps, you can help spread GBS awareness in your community! Too often we hear from parents that they wish they had known about GBS sooner. So we want to get GBS awareness materials into the hands of parents as soon as possible so they too can be aware. You can help!
  1. Shop free awareness materials on our website or download materials*!
  2. Once you have your materials, share them with your community - whether that be a moms group, a local clinic, a hospital, or someone you know!
  3. Take a picture of your efforts and share it on social media! Be sure to use #GBSCommunityDays and tag @groupBstrep
*If you have previously downloaded our GBS awareness brochure and/or our one-page checklist, please use our latest version uploaded 5/17/23.
