We had a perfectly normal pregnancy. Had morning sickness the first trimester and all the joyful experiences that come with pregnancy. Heard the heartbeat at 12 weeks, and got an ultrasound at 20 weeks and found out we were having a little boy. Skip to week 36, was tested for GBS and it came back negative. On Monday morning, August 23rd, I started having contractions. I woke up my husband and my water broke soon after. We arrived at the hospital expecting a perfectly normal birth. After we checked in the nurse checked me with the doppler. Then she asked when I last felt him move. I answered I think Saturday night/Sunday morning. I was told they don't move a lot in the last few days because they run out of room. She said she couldn't find a heartbeat, but not to worry she would get an ultrasound. Of course my husband and I feared the worst and, when they brought the ultrasound machine in, our worst fears were confirmed. Our baby boy Nolan had beat us to heaven. After the autopsy we found that the umbilical cord and placenta were infected with GBS and so was Nolan. I am left with empty arms and a broken heart.
