Hello Everyone,
My son was born a healthy baby. My doctor never even informed me that I had tested positive for Group B strep during one of my prenatal visits. Well, my son was delivered by c-section and went home with me after five days. He was discharged as a healthy boy.
Well, when he was 10 weeks old, I found out about Group B strep and meningitis. I put my son to sleep at about 9:00 pm. At 11:30pm, he woke up screaming and crying as though he was in pain. I immediately took him to the ER where he had a fever of a 101 and would not stop crying. They performed blood cultures and took a urine sample and determined he had a urine infection. As a result, he was discharged with antibiotics.
However, the next day, the hospital called me and stated to return to the ER as Noah's blood culture revealed a bacteria. I returned and they took more blood samples. He was admitted into the hospital to perform other tests. The next day he had a spinal tap that revealed meningitis. He also had a CAT scan to determine if there was fluid in the brain.
THANK GOD THAT MY SON WAS SPARED. He is currently 6 months and doing well. Of Course we are monitoring his development very closely. His pediatrician determined that he was treated very early. I BELIEVE THAT GOD SAVED MY SON. MY FAMILY PRAYED FOR HIS RECOVERY. YES, THE DOCTORS HELPED, BUT IT WAS TRULY THE GRACE OF GOD THAT GAVE MY SON A FULL RECOVERY.
