My daughter was completely healthy at birth, but on July 1st all of that would change. After coming home from taking our other 3 childern to the playground we got all the kids washed up and put them to bed not knowing this would be the last time I would see them for almost 4 months. About 1 hour later Miley started seeming really uncomfortable and her crying was uncontrollable. It was then my husband and I decided to take her to the nearest hospital. When we got there we went to the ER and found out her temperature was 102.7. Not knowing what the problem was our pediatrician was called and Miley was admitted for observation. Then after sitting there for 2 days in extreme pain with no antibotics the doctor and I had an altercation and I demanded she be sent somewhere else. Miley was air evacuated to another hospital and we were then told the she had group B strep meningitis. Later that day Miley had two seizures and a really bad stroke. She was then ventilated to keep pressure off her brain.
Miley stayed on the vent for about 2 months. Not only did she had menigitis once but it came for the second time causing a brain abcess. We were told she wouldn't make it so that morning about 5 we were called in to talk to all the doctors and were asked if her heart was to stop did we want to have her worked on. It was then that we called our family, friends, and other children to come and see her for what we thought was the last time. Later that night her rate had dropped to 40. She was in bradycardia so we asked to see the chaplin and it was then we chose to have her baptized and prayed to God to let her live. I can rember the exact words I prayed to Him that night. I said, "God, I gave her to you. All I ask is that You please give her back to me in return." I said, "If she is going to die, just please don't let her suffer." He did just that. She is still with us even though she is said to have severe brain damage. She is a year old today and she can't do too much, but i will continue to pray each and every day and keep my faith in God. With Him anything is possible. I thank God every day for her and my husband who has been my rock through it all even in my lowest moments when I felt I couldn't go on anymore.
