Kian was born 16 days overdue. An induction took four days and I was not progressing.
Five weeks before my due date I was in and out of the hospital as I was measuring very big for my due date and was progressing quite poorly.
I had Kian by emergency C-section due to him losing oxygen. I had to demand this as they were going to let me try to have him natural.
Kian came by C-section. After four hours he was not feeding. He was breathing heavily and coughing up dark brown mucus. Within 5 minutes of the midwife on ward noticing this, he was rushed off with a chest infection. Five hours after he had gone to SCBU, he was wired up to a ventilator, needed assistance breathing and had wires coming out of his cord with morphine, penicillin, etc.
Within 24 hrs lumbar punctures were carried out.
After 9 days on wired machines, Kian pulled through. The doctors said this was because of his birth weight being 9lb., 9oz. Twelve days after birth Kian was allowed home and after several hospital checkups, he remains healthy.
