I was 24 weeks pregnant with twins. I had no symptoms until the next day. I had back pain, slight cramping, and a fever. I was rushed to the emergency room where I was treated like a COVID-19 patient because of my high fever. Hours later in the emergency room, while tests were being run, my water bag broke and I had to have an emergency C-section.
One of my babies, Ella, survived, but, unfortunately, Kensie took her last breath ten minutes after the doctor pulled her out. I didn’t know what GBS was until the doctor told me Ella had GBS and that's what caused me to go into preterm labor and for Kensie to not make it. I wasn’t tested for GBS at all, so it was too late. Three weeks later Ella unfortunately didn’t make it due to her prematurity and a different infection.
We need to spread GBS awareness to other mommies before it's too late.
