I tested positive for GBS in my pregnancy and was treated during labor. May have been treated a little late. Kaliah was diagnosed with Late Onset Septic GBS Meningitis. She was not diagnosed until 5 days after symptoms began. She had a stroke, followed by 52 seizures within a 3 day time frame. The status of her brain function was unknown and she was in septic shock. She was hospitalized for 6 weeks on antibiotics, had multiple MRIs, lots of medication, was intubated, had a shrunken lung, and she had constant downhill battles. When the infection was finally gone, after her final MRI they told us they didn’t know if she would ever thrive or have a good life. However, when we finally got discharged and got to bring her home, we immediately put her into physical therapy and occupational therapy. She is almost 3 now and is absolutely amazing and thriving!
