International GBS Awareness Month has been on the US National Health Observance Calendar for over a decade. Worldwide, GBS is one of the most notable infectious causes of newborn illness and death according to the World Health Organization. However, many mothers who have been personally effected by GBS had been told that GBS is no big deal by their health care providers, prior to the devastating events. That is why Group B Strep International wants to spread the word that GBS IS A BIG DEAL.
