At 3 weeks old she had a fever and confirmed GBS sepsis in her blood. Did 10 days of antibiotics. Thought we were good. Got home from the hospital, but 10 days later she had a fever again. Then we went to children’s hospital where we spent 7 days in the PICU. After seizures and coding, we spent another 2.5 weeks on the infectious disease floor. Now she is just over a year old and was diagnosed with cerebral palsy from the damage meningitis caused. She is a fighter and the toughest little girl I’ve ever seen! She’s learning so much and doing so well since all of the heartache GBS has caused all of us. She was delivered by c-section so they told us not to worry but she ended up getting it twice back to back and we still are left wondering why or how.
