Ares was born at 27 weeks 3 days, due to preeclampsia, after a 63-day, relatively easy NICU course, we went home. One and a half weeks later, Ares was not feeling well, high pitched cry, and pale. He stopped breathing at home and went into cardiac arrest. I (Mommy) gave him CPR. He woke up, and an ambulance took us to the hospital. He was intubated because of reoccurring apnea, and eventually cultures came back for septic late-onset group B strep. He was on a ventilator for 4 days, and we spent the next 7 days on the recovery floor. We do not know how this occurred, due to the fact I tested negative at his birth.
