I tested positive for GBS with Allison. I was induced at 38.5 weeks and given almost one dose of antibiotics when my labor was forced along by breaking of waters.
At 20 days old, Allison contracted late-onset GBS meningitis. We learned what a fighter she was because she spent 6 weeks in the PICU, had more tubes and needles in her than I could have ever imagined. We were finally able to bring home a little girl who could light up a room without ever saying a word. She never walked, but changed lives. She spent countless days in the same PICU that saved her life, with ailments caused by her compromised immune system. We lost Allison to a quick moving infection January 25th, 2008. We miss her desperately.
