I was 37 weeks along. My water broke in the doctor's office. I asked repeatedly if she would test me for group B strep, the doctor refused to. My daughter was born C-section using vacuum and a high forceps delivery. Her head looks like a hamburger when it came out. She was not breathing, she was rushed to the NICU, where she was intubated. When I found out that it was because of a group B strep infection, of course my husband and I were furious. I had a fever during labor, and waited too long to get her out of me. When my son was born, I had antibiotics hung before I had my repeat C-section. There are so many women around me, that had the same experience. Two of my friends went to the same doctor as I did, they had group b strep babies. So we had to start formal proceedings against the doctor. Thankfully our daughter is now 31 and she had no lingering problems. I just came across this article and I wanted to share my story. Thank you for letting me share.
