I tested negative at the doctors office at 37 weeks. I had a completely normal and healthy pregnancy. Labor was pretty much routine except I had developed a fever during. Antibiotics were started right away. Baby was monitored the entire time and was good up until she came out-she never took a breath once she did. Turns out I was GBS positive and developed chorio during labor. I’m assuming the GBS was what caused it. I’m at a loss for words and wonder if the GBS was caught if this all could have been avoided. They gave no cause for death and said they see these things “all the time,” but never with this outcome. Something needs to change. A precious life was taken all over something that could have potentially been avoided.
